Calling all newbies! What to expect at This Girl Can Classes

But what do This Girl Can Classes actually involve? The classes are 45 minutes in length and are designed to be a blend of different exercises and styles of activity each week. Even though the classes are made up of different types of exercise, we keep things gentle and at a low intensity so that women of all abilities feel able to take part. The aim is to build your confidence and introduce you to lots of different styles of movement so that you feel confident to add regular classes to your exercise routine

The sessions involve everything from dance fitness (think Zumba), aerobics, boxing and yoga. Don’t have the latest Lycra set? There is no dress code at This Girl Can Classes – so if all you’ve got is a baggy t-shirt and some old joggers then that’s ok. Don’t know a dumbbell from a kettlebell? We’re not about serious strength training. All our classes consist of bodyweight exercises, so no scary equipment needed!

Gimme the good stuff

You’ll be glad to hear that we’re not going to lecture you about the health benefits of exercise, but have you considered the psychological and social benefits of group exercise in particular? Our classes are a chance to socialise with likeminded women, create connections and long-lasting friendships. So, if you’re looking for a cha-cha-cha with a side of chat, or a gossip with a dose of dance, then our classes are the perfect excuse to catch up with friends old and new while getting in a well-earned workout. Research has shown that regular participation in group fitness classes can lead to a significant decrease in perceived stress and an increase in physical, mental and emotional quality of life when compared with exercising regularly alone1.
