Looking to start exercising but not really sure where to begin?

Nervous about trying something new? 

This Girl Can Classes provide a welcoming beginner’s programme where getting it wrong is totally alright. If you’ve got two left feet or have never done a push up in your life, then these classes are for you. 

This Girl Can Classes will give you the confidence to try new moves, understand different fitness class options, and even make new friends.

What will the class be like?

Expect a warm welcome from your instructor when you arrive, and the opportunity to discuss any worries you may have before you start the class to settle any nerves.

The 45-minute class starts with a gentle warm up. You’ll then be guided through two short blocks of exercise, with an interval in between. Each main block of activity will be different each week, giving you a taster of different exercise class styles. Click on the tiles below to read more about the This Girl Can Classes styles.

Towards the end of the class, you’ll be guided through a cool down, and enjoy a minute of mindfulness giving you a chance to unwind and take five minutes just for you. 

Before you leave, there will be the opportunity to chat about the class with others and chat to the instructor about how you found it.

  • Classes are for those looking to get into exercise for the first time, or after a break
  • Classes will support to build confidence and fitness levels, whilst having fun!
  • Everyone will be a bit nervous, but everyone is in it together!
  • If you go the wrong way, miss a beat; it doesn’t matter, getting it wrong is half the fun!
  • You can go at your own pace and have a break at any point.
  • A bottle of water
  • Comfortable leggings or workout trousers / shorts (no jeans)
  • A t-shirt or top suitable for moving around in

Dance fitness is all about moving to the beat of our fab playlist. We have some easy-to-follow routines for you to try, but as long as you’re moving, the right steps don’t matter.

This non-contact, boxing-style block really packs a punch! You won't need to be a pro boxer to benefit from the knockout toning to your legs, arms, chest, shoulders and back. 

Yoga inspired stretch

Don't know your cat-cow from your downward dog? Don't worry! Our yoga session focuses just as much on relaxation and meditation as it does improving strength, posture and flexibility.

We'll turn up the tunes while you tone with a few staple exercises for a top-to-toe workout. No fancy footwork here – just simple movements for an easy burn.

Move

Move

You'll learn a series of repeated exercise moves and alternate between them (so no getting bored!). Take each short burst of activity at your own pace.
